Python is a programming language largely used in science and technology., it is easy readable, relatively easy to learn and build on a large community of users.
Python is in fact the 4th most used programming language in the word (TIOBE, June 2017). It benefits from a large community of users that actively develop both tools and support. It is very well suited for data science which makes it easy to create small routines or adress new problems in a fast and effective way. This activity will give you a taste of python for the scientist and the engineer. You will first learn the the philosophy and the construction of the language. You will then jump into a few scripts that demonstrate the power and utility of programming using python in various contexts. It will be fun and empowering whether you are new programmer or one that has experience with other languages.
Bring your own computer. We will be at the Ångström Visualisation Lab at the Ångström Library
